About Ultra Coach Max

My Ultra Running Journey
I’ve always been sporty and active, but like many, there were times I lost my way and had to rebuild my fitness from the ground up. Through dedication and self-coaching, I’ve improved my 5K, 10K, 10-mile, and marathon times by 25%, and now regularly run ultras — my longest run to date being 100K. The ultra running community’s enthusiasm and camaraderie inspire me every day, and helping runners at every stage — from their first 5K to their first 100-mile ultra and beyond — is what drives me.
Coaching Qualifications & Experience
I hold a degree in Sport, Fitness & Coaching, a Level 3 Personal Training qualification, and I am a qualified teacher as well as a UESCA-certified ultra running coach. This combination of academic knowledge, practical training expertise, and real-world coaching experience allows me to provide well-rounded support to runners of all abilities. While my longest run is 100K, I’ve coached clients to distances of 250+ miles, helping them push beyond what they thought possible.
My Holistic Coaching Philosophy
I believe coaching goes beyond just training plans. My holistic approach considers the whole athlete — including physical conditioning, injury prevention, mental resilience, nutrition, and life balance. I tailor every programme to fit your individual goals, lifestyle, and unique challenges, helping you build sustainable progress and lasting confidence.
Who I Coach?
Whether you’re competitive, stepping onto the trails for the first time, aiming for a marathon PB, or moving up to ultra distances, I provide personalised coaching that helps you train smarter, stay injury-free, and reach your goals — whatever your starting point or ambition.
