At the 2025 Boston Marathon, Kate achieved what every marathon runner dreams of: a perfectly executed race and a huge new personal best.
Crossing the finish line in 3:25, she shaved four minutes off her previous marathon best — on one of the most punishing courses in the world and of the 7 marathon majors.
As a running coach and ultra running coach, it's moments like these that show the true power of smart training, discipline, and race-day execution.

If you know Boston, you know it’s a course that demands not just fitness but strategy. It’s not just the 815 feet of elevation gain that punishes runners — it’s the 1,275 feet of elevation loss. The first four miles are almost all downhill, and it’s all too easy to go out too fast, destroy your quads, and have nothing left for the infamous Newton Hills and Heartbreak Hill.
But Kate nailed it.
Her pacing was a masterclass in marathon strategy.
She stayed relaxed and measured through the early miles, conserving strength for the tougher second half.
When the hills came, Kate was ready. She stayed strong, consistent, and resilient when others began to fade.
Another key to her success? Fuelling.
Marathon success isn’t just about legs and lungs — it’s about energy. Kate’s fuelling plan was spot-on, allowing her to stay sharp mentally and physically right through the final miles.
This PB wasn’t luck — it was the result of months of smart marathon training, consistent weekly progress, careful attention to recovery, and a strong coach-athlete partnership based on communication and trust.
Huge congratulations to Kate — a brilliant performance at one of the world’s greatest marathons! 🎉
And there’s no slowing down.
Kate now turns her attention to the Goring Gap Ultra, where she’ll take the endurance and strength built through marathon training and move into ultra marathon territory — proving that smart, consistent training builds success at every distance.
Also, a huge well done to everyone who raced the London Marathon this weekend!
April is a celebration of running — from PBs to first finishes, it’s what makes the community so special.
